i JUST got my OnePlus a couple of weeks ago and i was wondering if i needed to install a screen guard as the specs say that it has gorilla glass 3 and the website says thats its pretty scratch resistant. Any advice on this would be helpful it's scratch resistant but not shatter resistant lol
Gorilla glass isn't made to be scratch resistant, in fact its very easy to scratch, its made to be flexible (and hence soft) so that it won't crack as easily when dropped. Sapphire is very scratch resistant and hard, but too expensive to use for personal glasses. Gorilla glas does NOT mean scratch resistant. You have to balance softness for fallprotection VS hardness for scratch resistance, so its always a compromise. Older phones can be more scratch resistant, i think the Gorilla glass 3 was more scratch resistant as well, but drop it a few times and usually the gorilla glas 5 wins.

I'm glad actually, it should be a little more scratch resistant. seinmind. I drop my Pixel 3a XL more than I care to admit, though it is in a Caseology case with a glass screen protector. Google oped for "Dragontail" glass instead of Gorilla Glass for that budget model and it is reportedly not as strong as Gorilla Glass.
