andyd. 1070 posts · Joined 2009. #3 · Oct 16, 2011. the 1.9 in a factory t4 is a td mate not a tdi engine its 68bhp and gutless. in factory state the 2.5 is the best engine they offered in a t4. personally i think a 1.9tdi (engine converted) t4 is the best setup by far, much nicer to drive and much more efficient than all my mates 2.5's.Throughout its history, Volkswagen has produced many good engines. The BKC 1.0 TDi engine definitely belongs to this group. Specify the terms of reference, design solutions and characteristics of the motor! What were the characteristics of the BKC 1.9 TDi engines? My bro in law is after an A4/Passat etc and wants to go see a 115bhp A4. I seem to recall someone telling me the 110/115 engines werent great, and the 100/130s were the pick. Any thoughts? Cheers.
