I’ve had several hilux over the years,currently on 13th and never had issues with engine size.currently got 2.4 litre engine and regularly tow 2.8 ton mini digger on trailer with zero problems.only travel at 40/50 mph which is plenty fast enough Aswell.if they had 400 hp people would still want more power.

It’s recently started blowing coolant out of the nipple behind the filling cap, requiring regular refills. I took it to the Toyota dealer in France today. Apparently it’s caused by over pressure. Considering that Innova is a heavy vehicle. Based on a short test drive at the Fort, the vvti (despite having lesser torque than a d4d) actually accelerates marginally quicker than the d4d. The d4d engine comes alive at 40kph and above. Funny, my experience with the Innovas was the other way around.
The D4D engines in Toyotas are excellent for reliability, and the diesels in Nissan/Renault seem to be quite good too from what I have heard. My favourite though is the engine in the S320 CDI. A mate has a 07 model with 150k now and still going strong like the day he bought it,no problems except wear and tear items.

Cylinder piston seals or piston “end of travel relief “ valves if it has them. You might be able to shut the engine off and listen for oil bypassing to locate the site of the problem. 17tiu.
