I don't know about the PS pump on a 2.4 engine but my own experience is that you first have to check ALL other items, especially the filter inside your reservoir is in the right place and not broken. This will generate a lot of bubbles that will upset your PS pump. Easy check and fix.

Decem, 10:56:00 AM. Check that the duct from the air flow meter to the turbo inlet is tight at the inlet to the turbo. The crimped hose clip is often loose. Replace it with a screwed clamp. Recently i bought an Alfa 159 2.4 JTDm. quickly had the DPF professionally removed, the EGR valve permanently closed (in software) and remapped.
